RICHMOND, Va. — Gov. Bob McDonnell’s Santa Claus act is likely to hit the wall Monday morning.
Virginia’s Republican chief executive spent the past week, for the most part, dispensing goodies: a record employer contribution to buttress the underfunded public employee pension system, a 3 percent bonus for state employees, $ 230 million more for higher education.
